Your vehicle could be stolen next

(KOLD) – July is National Auto Theft Awareness Month; it's also one of the peak months where cars in Tucson are most targeted according to Tucson Police.

One way to deter the bad guys is to etch every window with your car's VIN number.

It's an easy process that could prevent your car from getting stolen, says TPD Auto Theft Detective Steven Simmers.

Rains close area roads

Late afternoon rains caused several roads throughout Pima County to be closed because of water flowing in various normally-dry rivers and washes.

One of the most common closures that can be expected after a rainfall is Camino De La Tierra at the Rillito River.

A county employee said that the roadway here should be cleared of debris after the flow of water has stopped.

The man then took off in a vehicle, with a woman inside. He later barricaded himself in the Days Inn Motel on Congress Street.
