Bees, honey, hives, beekeeper suits - get them all at Southwest Bee Supply

Right now, chances are you won’t catch Roy Wilson at his Southwest Bee Supply Co., 844 S. 6th Ave. @ 19th Street.

He’s got his hands full with bees. That could mean collecting honey from about 100 hives he has set up along the southern fringes of the Tucson metro. Or he could be out responding to swarm calls.

Community has ideas for how streetcar route should develop

Community has ideas for how streetcar route should develop

If you build a streetcar, they will come. That has been demonstrated across the country with the 21st century streetcar.

The streetcar in Denver brought 7.8 million square feet of commercial development from 2004 to 2009. The Charlotte streetcar added 9.8 million square feet.

But what will come in Tucson? Downtown, 4th Avenue, Main Gate Square and the University of Arizona don’t want to wait to find out or leave it to random forces.

'Grey Matters! Help Serena Fight Brain Cancer' fundraiser & local business alert

Originally submitted by Cynthia Roedig, owner of Victorian West--Purveyor of Fine Foods and Gifts

Hello,

My request is a mix of a business location and a fundraiser we are hosting on Mar 24. I know, short time.

I am a shop owner at Monterey Court, 505 W. Miracle Mile, which in and of itself is a growing success story. The owners purchased the run-down property, which was a very glamorous and sought-after location in the '30s and ‘40s, and have restored and added to the property, making it a very special set of retail shops, art galleries, performance venue and very soon our cafe and patio dining will be available. You can get information about our location at www.montererycourtaz.com <http://www.montererycourtaz.com/>  and also visit our pages on Facebook.

But more importantly, on March 24 we are hosting a fundraiser on behalf of Serena (Turley) Freewomyn.

You might have a few questions about Revolutio, the new, eclectic boutique at 43 S. 6th Ave. that leans toward women’s fashions but, by no means, stops there.

The first question could be about the name, Revolutio. No, there is not a missing n. Owner Heather Lindquist went for a Latin spelling.

“It means a turn around, two bodies orbiting each other,” said Lindquist, a professional photographer who knows her way around retail fashion.

Streetcar construction will tie up Congress, Broadway, 4th Avenue and University Boulevard

Six years of Modern Streetcar talk will finally translate into streetcar action with the very long-awaited track installation set to start by the end of April.

Congress Street, Broadway, a section of 4th Avenue, University Boulevard and 2nd Street through the University of Arizona will all have driving restrictions, especially through the summer months, and continuing to the end of 2012.

“We want to get as much done in the summer months as we can,” said Jesse Gutierrez, streetcar construction manager for the Tucson Department of Transportation.

A Perfect Pantry offers party gifts and all sorts of home knick-knacks

A Perfect Pantry is one of those stores where you can’t help but smile.

Owner Amy Pike makes it a point to add an element of fun no matter how mundane an item may be. Take the rubber gloves in the kitchen section. They come in a variety of vibrant colors.

“You can have rubber gloves that make you smile because they are pretty,” Pike said on Feb. 21, just a few hours after opening her doors for the first time at A Perfect Pantry, 21 E. Congress St.
