University of Arizona Parking and Transportation Services is announcing the availability of two new garage pass options, a prepaid daily pass and a 10 day prepaid pass. The passes will be available beginning next week.
Here is a breakdown of the two passes:
Prepaid Daily Garage Pass
The prepaid daily pass is available to everyone. It can be purchased at the 2nd Street garage for $10 and at all other campus garages for $8. Users may pull up to the entrance gate as normal, pull a ticket, park their vehicle and go to the cashier booth to request to pre-pay. Customers will then receive a prepaid pass to keep with them while visiting campus. When they are prepared to leave the garage, they can go straight to the exit gate and swipe the barcode on the prepaid pass and exit. Prepaid passes are valid for one time use (no in and out privileges) and are only sold on the day of use.
Prepaid daily passes are useful for those who know that they will be parked in the garage and paying the maximum rate. It allows users to pass the cashier line when they are leaving the garage and save time.
10 Day Garage Pass
The 10 day pass is available to all UA affiliates (those who have a Cat Card). The pass may be purchased at a garage cashier booth at a discounted rate of $72. The pass may be purchased and used at every garage except for 2nd Street garage. Every pass is valid for 10 days, and the days of use do not need to be consecutive. UA affiliates can purchase the pass and use it at the garage of their choice by swiping the barcode upon entry and exit. The pass must be swiped upon both entry and exit, or it will deactivate for the day and will count as one day of use. The pass does grant in and out privileges. For example, users could park in Tyndall Avenue garage in the morning and then move to the Highland Avenue garage in the afternoon in a single day.
The pass is used on a space available basis. If a garage is full for visitors, the pass holder must park in a different garage. 10 day passes will expire after the 10th day of use, or on June 30, 2013 (whichever comes first). The pass does not permit overnight parking, and there are no refunds.
