Preliminary construction work to start at Kino Parkway and 22nd Street | News
Starting October 8, the Ashton Company, Inc. under a contract from the Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) will begin work on the Kino Parkway and 22nd Street Intersection Improvement project.
The work will consist of replacement of the existing intersection with a Single Point Urban Interchange and extending Kino Parkway over 22nd Street. 22nd Street will be widened to six lanes with dual left turn lanes and right turn lanes at the Kino Parkway intersection. The new bridge and lighting design will have public art installed with it.
Kino Parkway median lanes, between Aviation Highway and 29th Street will be closed on October 8, to allow crews to salvage trees and clear and grub activities. Traffic control will be removed at the end of each work day. Work on this portion of the project is expected to be complete by November 8.
In addition to the tree salvage, crews will start waterline relocation work on 22nd Street, from Cherrybell Stravenue to Kino Parkway. There will be intermittent lane closures during this work for eastbound lanes. Crews will be working from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Motorists are advised to use caution when driving in the area, and to expect traffic delays due to lane closures. Business access will be maintained at all times.
