Road improvements to Grant Road and Oracle will begin next week.
The first phase scheduled to start on July 16, will start with removing the median islands on Grant Road. Intersection work will also begin in this first phase, with the installation of temporary traffic signals.
Traffic will be restricted to two lanes in each direction. The work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for Monday through Friday. Completion of the project is slated for July 2013.
Drivers are advised to use caution when traveling in the construction area, and to obey all traffic control devices and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
The $7.5 million project will include widening Grant Road to six lanes from 15th Avenue to Castro Street, with median island right-turn lane modifications along Oracle Road from Alturas Street south to Rillito street. The intersection of Grant Road and Oracle Road will also be reconstructed to provide indirect left turn intersection operations.
Falcone Brothers & Associates, Inc. is the main contractor for the project.
