Drivers should be aware of travel restrictions in the Downtown area, as Get Moving Tucson starts Sunday.
Get Moving Tucson starts October 21 at 5 a.m. and lasts until 11 a.m., with Church Ave. between Congress and Alameda Streets closing to northbound traffic, and Church Ave. between Council and Congress Streets closed to southbound traffic. Only vehicles will be involved in these street closures, bicycles and pedestrian traffic is being maintained despite the closures.
Additional road closures are: Sixth Ave between Broadway and First Street, and First Street and Second Street between Sixth and First Avenues. There is a right lane closure on St. Mary’s Road/Sixth Street between Bonita and Church Avenues, as well as shoulder closures on W. Congress St. between Bonita Ave. and Silverbell Road.
Grande Ave. will have flagging personnel set up between Starr Pass and Congress that will allow traffic in only one direction, at any given time.
For more information about the event go to www.azroadrunners.org.
Drivers should be aware of traffic delays due to this event and several downtown construction projects. Be advised to use caution when traveling in the area, and obey all traffic control and detour signs, as well as personnel directing traffic.
