Prescribed burn to put smoke in Tucson skies | Environment
Title (Max 100 Characters)
There may be smoke in the sky tomorrow, as two City of Tucson departments participate in a controlled burn in the Sweetwater Wetlands.
This will be a joint venture between Tucson Water and the Tucson Fire Department, as they plan to burn off vegetation in the Sweetwater Wetlands. It will be a practice firefighting exercise for Tucson Fire and a part of Tucson Water’s mosquito abatement program.
The burn will take place March 6, at 8:30 a.m. at 2667 W. Sweetwater Drive. There will be a safety brief beforehand for personnel.
Residents are advised there will be smoke in the air, near that area, and to remember that a pre-planned and prescribed burn is scheduled for that time frame.
