El Rio needs your help! | Community Spirit
The following is a news release from El Rio:
In honor of breast health awareness month, El Rio Community Health Center will receive a portion of proceeds for every “Pink Ribbon” bagel sold at two Paradise Bakery & Café locations in Tucson. With only nine days left, El Rio is hoping the community will pitch in and help out to reach goal in an effort to help uninsured women.
Proceeds from the “Pink Ribbon” bagels will help fund a special El Rio breast health promotion for uninsured women. The need for uninsured women to have access to mammography is critical and Paradise Bakery & Café is committed to help. To date, close to 200 people have already signed up to receive a $25 digital mammogram exam at El Rio thanks to the help of the community. Availability was on a on a first come, first served basis and Friday, October 26th is the last day of testing. Results have already shown this to be life saving for a handful of women.
Can you help us reach out to the community in an effort to reach our goal of selling 10,000 “Pink Ribbon” bagels?
Each pink, ribbon-shaped bagel is made with cherry chips, cranberries, brown sugar, honey, and a touch of vanilla. In an effort to inspire other local businesses to join in the fundraising, Paradise Bakery and Cafe has issued a “Business Challenge”. Every week in October, businesses that purchase at least a dozen “Pink Ribbon” bagels will be entered to win lunch for 10 people at the Paradise Bakery & Café of their choice (Including the new Grant & Swan location opening in November.) Orders for the Business Challenge must be placed 48 hours in advance with either Paradise Bakery & Cafe location at:
- 4362 North Oracle Road- (520) 888-0940
- 6129 East Broadway Blvd - (520) 514-9470.
El Rio will also receive proceeds from the opening of a new Paradise Bakery & Café at the Crossroads Festival location on November 16th. We encourage the community to join us for lunch on that day to further help fund the El Rio breast health program that has assisted uninsured women in our community have access to state of the art digital mammography.
