Fast Park holding 6th annual canned food drive | Community Spirit
Fast Park airport parking company is hosting its sixth annual Canned Food Drive.
The drive began September 3 and will run through September 26, to show support of National Hunger Action Month.
Donations will be accepted at the following location - FastPark & Relax (6970 S. Tucson Blvd.) near Tucson International Airport.
As they have done in past food drives, Fast Park will donate one dollar for every pound of nonperishable food donated by customers.
In addition, this year employees across the U.S. are competing to see which facility collects the most. The winning facility’s charity will receive an extra $1,000 donation from Fast Park.
“Our employees and guests have really supported this event in the past,” said Melanie Chavez, Executive Vice President of Construction and Branding, in a recent news release. “We hope this added incentive will create some friendly competition and increase the amount of nonperishables and cash that we collect. We can’t wait to see which city pulls out ahead of the rest to help support our local families in need.”
Food banks across the country are struggling to keep up with demand this year. According to Feeding America, one out of eight people are struggling with hunger. Since the annual drive began in 2007, Fast Park has collected more than 20,000 pounds and donated more than $17,000 to support the needs of hungry families.
