Is your pet pooch 'spokesdog' material? | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Pima County is holding a contest to find out who has the ‘top dog’ in the county. It’s all part of a new dog licensing campaign for the Pima Animal Care Center(PACC). One of their first contenders could be Mayor Jonathan Rothschild’s own two pooches.
To enter all dog owners have to do is email in a photo of their pooch (officially licensed of course), and a brief explanation as to why their dog would make the perfect ‘spokesdog’ for the campaign.
Right now Mayor Rothschild’s two dogs; Tyrone, a photogenic Pekingese and Tillie, a rather plump Dachshund, are just two of the many dogs entered so far.
The deadline for the ‘spokesdog’ contest is midnight on March 18, and dog owners can send their photos and explanations to posterdog@pima.gov.
PACC would like to remind pet owners that licensing is more than a law, it can also be a reminder to keep their pets up-to-date on their shots. The $15 fee collected on animals that are spayed and neutered helps PACC fund services to help shelter abandoned animals and to protect neighborhoods.
Once all the photos have been entered, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department will narrow the field to five finalists and the community will have a chance to vote on the winner.
