Trained in Germany by the VW factory, Ed Kocher came to America from Stuttgart with a dream of opening his own VW repair shop and through a chain of events found himself in Tucson.
In 1974, Ed opened Stuttgart Autohaus at 614 E. Glenn St. and quickly established Stuttgart as the premier independent VW shop in town. His main focus was to always give the very best and most honest service possible. From 1974 until 2005, Ed did exactly that.
In 2005, Ed hired Gary Vroegh and Raul Nieto to work at Stuttgart with the intent of eventually selling the business to them. Before Ed would consider selling the business he so carefully built, he wanted to be sure that Gary and Raul would not compromise the honesty or integrity that he had worked so hard to establish. From April, 2005 to August, 2005 Gary and Raul worked side by side with Ed, Gary writing service and Raul, who is a master VW Technician, servicing and reapairing VWs.
Within two months, Stuttgarts VW business tripled and Ed could see that with Gary and Raul at the helm, Stuttgart would be in very capable hands and would continue to observe Ed's credo "RESPECT THE CUSTOMER AND ALWAYS BE HONEST".
In August 2005, Gary and Raul purchased Stuttgart and hired Ed to write service. Ed stayed on until March of 2007 when he decided to it was time to retire.
Stuttgart Autohaus is without question Tucson's #1 independent VW/Audi service center. They know and understand the workings of the newest models and keep our diagnostic tools up to date. They often repair VWs or Audis that other shops send us because they neither can't figure it our or do not have the specialized tools required.
Gary and Raul pride themselves on being the very best and that is why they chose to specialize in VW/Audi service.
Their goal is a simple one:
"To know our product and repair it better than anyone else"
