Rally tonight for gun regulations, and Sandy Hook remembrance

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now)- Several groups in Tucson
are joining the nationwide push today for more gun regulations.

They are observing six
months since the shooting at Sandy Hook and making a call to local lawmakers in
Washington D.C. These groups will meet this evening at the Little Chapel of
Nations on the U of A campus.

The groups putting this
on, Moms Demand Action and Organizing for Action, say this is part vigil, part
press conference.

They will be paying tribute
to the 26 lives lost in Newtown, and showing gratitude to some of Arizona's
elected lawmakers.

What they will be doing is
making neckties using paper and string, with a message written on front that
reads ‘I have gun sense.' These will be sent to representatives Grijalva and
Barber, as well as Senator McCain, but not to Senator Jeff Flake, who voted no
several weeks ago on gun control issues.

All Souls Procession using new form of fundraising

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now)- Happening tonight all
around town is a new kind of fundraiser for one non-profit.

‘The Night of a Thousand
Parties' will help pay for an annual Tucson tradition, the All Souls
Procession.

Organizers say every year
it grows and costs more to put on the event, but they do not always get new
donors.

They are now working on
organizing individual parties, for fundraising to happen.

The total bill for the
2012 All Souls Procession was $74,000, right now the organizers still have
$12,000 to pay off.  Most of this is done
with donations that have come in from small businesses and individuals and
grassroots fundraising.

Other non-profits have
done similar party programs, here is how it works.

People sign up to host a
private party, they pick up a DVD to show, then there are handouts that break
down how money is raised and how it is spent.
